I have the impression that Alan was an only child. He never talked about brothers or sisters and gave the impression that he was a lonely insecure child. He does talk about his mum and dad and their Friday night's of rug making or insulating the attic, sounds an exciting home!

there is something about his childhood which is strange... also the way he tries to talk to girls and get female company. i would also guess that perhaps he had no brothers/sisters and therefore didnt learn to socialise that well from an early age...
